Eating food when it’s in season not only means it tastes better, it’s also great for your health and the environment. Not to mention, in-season produce is often cheaper, especially when there is a glut! In June, we’re focusing on cherries, beetroot and courgette.

Cherries

Cherries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which supports immunity and helps to reduce inflammation, as well as supporting muscles recover post-exercise.

Beetroot

With a short but vibrant season, beetroot offers natural nitrates, folate and potassium, which supports heart health. Beetroot adds a sweet, earthy depth and vibrant colour to recipes, and works well roasted, grated raw, or even blended into hummus and soups.

Courgette

Courgettes provide a light, low-calorie source of vitamin C, folic acid and potassium, making them a fresh and versatile addition to meals such as stews, bakes and tagines – during the summer, they’re also great chargrilled on the barbecue!
